Beginnings
A member in my forum posted a topic on how we all started doing scale modelling (Gundams in my story...)..posted a long winded reply..and thought to myself, "Hey...this looks like a good blog.." since i haven't posted any new updates, might as well share it here...
Hmm..i guess i knew abt gundams way back wen i was in standard 2 or 3..i bought those small erasers that had pics on it..and i got a few..always wanted to know what it was that time..and i remember reading 'GUNDAM'..wat the heck was it? hell if i knew..
Back then i was into other stuff and Gundams was just another fading memory until i was in this store..can't remember wat it was, but at that time it was in Klang..i saw this box 1/100 (or was it 1/144..hmm..) MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam..that was way back in 1985 if i'm not mistaken..it was only for RM9.90..but that time it was quite big money, and my family wasnt that well off..but my mum bought me, despite not having much money with us..(bless u mum..)..
Took it home and it was a model kit..yeah, one of those ol' skool kits that din have much poseability..i put it together using UHU glue..hahaha..imagine that..once done i started playing with it (c'mon, i was like 9 years old..)..although it went thru tough times, but the kit remained loyal to me..and wen it couldnt be played no more..i still used its part to combine with my other toys..u see..the Zeta never left my childhood..
Fast forward years later..i've lost most of the parts of my dear ol' zeta and i slowly knew what gundam was all abt..with the help of my frens, i got to know abt it more and more...but i was introduced to the world of Zeta Gundam..i adored the Zeta and Mark 2..eventhough by looking at the pics..later on i would buy sum other kits and later traded them with other toys..but i manage to keep one frm my younger days..the GPO2A (scaled 1/144)..yeah..its ol' skool..heh..
During my college years i managed to save up and saw this kit..Master Grade ZETA GUNDAM!! i knew that time that i had to have it..no matter wat..it was more of paying my respects to my previous Zeta model..brought it home and started putting it together..for me that time it was an awesome piece of plastic...i took care of the model more than any other toys that i had..
The MG Zeta went thru a lot with me..and its my most precious MG until today..as u can see..that was my turning point into Gundams..frm that day onwards, i've been loving this giant mechs..and since i've worked, i've managed to get hold of sum kits..not to mention learning more and more the tricks of the trade of gunpla modelling..
Frm the day i bought that MG Zeta (1996)..i only painted it twice (it was the worst paint job i did..and still ashamed of it)..now with the discovery of brake fluid (it does miracles i tell u!)..i've stripped off the old paint and now working on it...building it the way its supposed to be built..
So, how i started into gundams? it all began frm that piece of plastic named Zeta Gundam bought by my mother for RM9.90...
Thats wat u call cheap beginnings...heh..
